ABOUT MY WORK

There are two strands to my work; one which is explicitly Jewish and one dealing with broader themes of creation. A large part of my Jewish work has been mishloach manot sculptures that fuse contemporary Jewish issues with themes of Purim. Lately this is in the form of cards that I send both digitally and through Pony Express.  Another component of my Jewish art is 'lenticular' images. They animate by flipping between two scenes as the viewer changes their viewing angle. The pieces send a Torah ethical message through the contrasting scenes.

The works dealing with creation  are formed with paint and cloth and are three dimensional.  I don't copy forms of nature, but the natural forms emerge by the way the materials are used. The pieces are meant to look like they 'are coming into being'. The forms reference sky, water, and earth, and point to the unity between them.
